Monkey Orchids

Mistakenly referred to as “Monkey Orchids,” none of the above species are in the Orchis simia family which is the genus for the monkey orchid. The above orchids are in the Dracula genus. Although they are constantly being misclassified, they still have adorable monkey faces which is good enough for me.

Finally - after a few years of mourning the worn out soles in my old pair of Toms and then some intense coupon searching - I have replaced my pair for a most decent price. Come to me, you comfy little bastards!

My thought was to take a two-night getaway for a bit of a mind-holiday but then I thought … no … I could buy new Toms and then use the rest of what I would spend on the weekend on practical things like books and the new Doctor Who merchandise they have at the comic book shop (though I’m peeved that they now sell the Fourth Doctor’s scarf - when I started watching Doctor Who, I had to knit my own, you youths!) … oh, and food, I guess.

Really though - Toms are a great investment. They saw me through my first London research trip - they’ll be reliable to not only do the same now, but also give me the unmistakable tan line on my foot (if I ever walk around in the sun - small price to pay). Hurray!
